Ashes of the Northern Home
Cold winds carry the songs of war
Across the blackened sea
Brothers of steel sing loud and proud
Of blood and victory
Through frozen tides our longships sail
Beneath the northern sky
Axes red with battle’s fire
And ravens flying high
We sing of gold and distant shores
Of kingdoms left in flame
The drums of war still pound within
The glory and the fame
But the wind grows cold…
And the sky turns grey…
Something waits beyond the bay…
Home… I ride through ashes and bone
The fire has taken my throne
Gold in my hands, but my world is gone
A king with nothing to own
Home… the silence cuts like a blade
The price of glory is paid
Treasure and steel are all that remain
But love has turned into shade
The harbor sleeps in ghostly smoke
The houses burned to stone
The village where my children played
Now silent… and alone
I run through ruins black with death
Through embers in the snow
The laughter of my younger days
Is buried far below
And the door swings wide…
In the burning air…
Gods forgive what I find there…
Home… I ride through ashes and bone
The fire has taken my throne
Gold in my hands, but my world is gone
A king with nothing to own
Home… the silence cuts like a blade
The price of glory is paid
Treasure and steel are all that remain
But love has turned into shade
All the battles…
All the gold…
All the stories proudly told…
Mean nothing to the dead tonight
No feast… no fire… no light…
Home… I kneel in ashes and bone
The warrior dies alone
Gold in my hands but the gods have shown
A crown carved out of stone
Home… the north wind whispers my name
The end of glory and fame
For every kingdom conquered in war
A heart is burned in flame
The sea gave glory
The sea gave gold
But took the warmth
A man must hold
